Invitation

This image of a Rohingyan Refugee family, modelled on the Holy Family, is a reminder of the many refugee families in our world facing difficulties. It was commissioned for the December 2019 issue of a magazine called Yawp! in India. The issue centred around the themes of displacement and of migrant crises around the world.

According the United Nations Refugee Agency more than 79.5 million people around the world have been forced to flee their homes. Among them are more than 25 million refugees, around half of whom are under the age of 18, and 4.2 million people waiting for a decision on their asylum claims.

Once A Month, For Three Months

While fundraising members of our committee came to appreciate the considerable challenges facing millions of refugees and asylum seekers worldwide.

Conscious that their needs are both material and spiritual we have committed to gathering monthly to pray for them and for all who support them.

These times of prayer will take place before the Blessed Sacrament in St. Michael’s Church, Ballinasloe, and will be accessible via the internet.

Due to Covid 19 public health guidelines only those leading the prayer will be physically present in St. Michael’s but we hope you will join us via the internet (details below).
